Planning a Custom E-Commerce Budget
Organize a customized e-commerce budget by considering essential functions, data integration, visual design, and maintenance costs, and understand how to evaluate planning and development expenses.

Provide the budget range first, then discuss suitable approaches.
E-commerce pricing requires understanding the products, members, orders, and internal workflows. Simply stating "shopping cart required" is insufficient to estimate the full scope of development. Providing a budget and launch timeline helps determine whether to adopt an off-the-shelf solution, phased development, or complete customization.
Five items that affect costs
- Requirements Consulting and Planning: Organizing roles, processes, website architecture, and acceptance criteria.
- UI/UX Design: The design scope includes the main layout, operation status, and mobile phone presentation.
- Front-end execution: responsive layout, interaction and function integration.
- Backend development: Product, member, order, permission and management functions.
- External integration and maintenance: payment and shipping integration, ERP, data transfer, hosting environment and subsequent maintenance.
Why should planning expenses be confirmed first?
DFocus's e-commerce planning and specification writing planning allocation is 20% of the total project price, included in the total price, and will not be charged separately. For example, if the total price is TWD 300,000, the planning part is TWD 60,000. If only planning is commissioned and the total development price has not yet been confirmed, a separate quote will be provided based on the scope of work.
How should the first phase be planned when the budget is insufficient?
First, list all the essential features required for the launch, then separate the projects that can be postponed. Special member pricing, complex logistics rules, or internal system integration should be confirmed as necessary conditions for the first phase; you cannot simply delete screens while retaining all development requirements.
Preparation checklist before requesting a quote
- Budget upper and lower limits and acceptable launch time.
- Product specifications, pricing rules, and payment and delivery methods.
- Member roles and order processing procedures.
- Connect files, test conditions, and existing data.
- Necessary conditions for acceptance, warranty and maintenance.
The prices mentioned in this article are planning budgets in New Taiwan dollars. Detailed prices will be determined after project discussion and confirmation of specifications, and your approved quote defines the final scope and price.
